Nearly 500 MSOE students will graduate Saturday, May 25 during MSOE’s Spring Commencement. The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the Kern Center, 1245 N. Broadway.  

Ploypairin (Ploy) Chongvatanabandit will give the class response. She is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and was the recipient of the 2019 Fred F. Loock Outstanding Student Award.  

William James Elke III will receive the Alumni Association Award. He is graduating with High Honors and will receive his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  

MSOE Regent Kevin Fletcher will deliver the keynote address and receive an Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree. Fletcher is president and CEO of WEC Energy Group and was appointed to the Office of the Chair and board of directors. Previously, he was president of We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service; president of Minnesota Energy Resources Corp., Michigan Gas Utilities and Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corp.; and senior vice president of customer operations for We Energies. Before making the move to Wisconsin, Fletcher was vice president of community and economic development at Georgia Power, Southern Co.’s largest subsidiary. In his 34-year career with Southern Co. he held leadership positions in operations, customer service, marketing and sales. Fletcher holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
