Demand for MSOE grads continues to grow with 99% outcomes rate, state’s highest salaries
When students and their families invest in higher education, they should consider whether they’ll get a strong return on their time and financial commitment. At MSOE, graduates enjoy extremely high employment success and starting salaries. In fact, graduates were hired by 240 unique companies and the graduate outcomes rate for MSOE’s class of 2021-22 was 99% and their average starting salary was $71,497. The university already boasts the highest average early and mid-career salaries in Wisconsin (PayScale Inc. College Salary Report, 2021-22).
“MSOE students are ready to solve complex problems on their first day of work because they’ve been solving them since their first day at MSOE,” said Dr. John Walz, MSOE president. “This is one of many reasons our graduates are in demand and command strong starting salaries. As students they spend hundreds of hours in laboratories working on real-world projects, and they are learning from our expert faculty who have years of industry experience.”
“At Plexus, interns and new engineers join one of our dynamic, cross-discipline project teams and begin contributing as early as possible. We believe engineers learn substantially through real-world, on-the-job experience, and we appreciate how MSOE integrates a similar philosophy in their curriculum,” said the Plexus Campus Focus Team. “The abundant hands-on technical experience students acquire at MSOE equips them to have an immediate impact at Plexus. MSOE alumni are well represented among the technical and organizational leaders of Plexus.”
“The class of 2023 is enjoying the strongest on-campus recruitment in the university’s history,” said Julie Way, director of the MSOE Career Connections Center. “We are also seeing a record number of employers visiting campus to share their internship and other opportunities with students—364 employers attended the fall career fair (with 40 on the waitlist) and 182 companies attended the recent winter career fair.”
Students, alumni and employers are encouraged to visit MSOE’s Career Connections Center and use Handshake to search and post internship and full-time opportunities for all majors.
To determine the graduate outcomes rate and average starting salary, MSOE’s Career Connections Center surveys students. MSOE's knowledge rate for this survey was 87%. Final numbers were compiled six months after the May 2022 graduation in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers guidelines.
