Urban agriculture pioneer Will Allen will give a special gallery talk as part of the “Growing Place: A Visual Study of Urban Farming” exhibition at the Grohmann Museum, 1000 N. Broadway.  

Allen, the founder of Growing Power urban farm and current proprietor of Will’s Roadside Farms & Markets, will give a talk entitled “All About Urban Agriculture.” From his earliest attempts at urban farming to his current efforts to grow hemp in Milwaukee, Allen will touch upon the past, present and future of urban agriculture. A book signing and product demonstration will follow Allen’s presentation, which will be Saturday, March 9, 2-4 p.m.  

“Growing Place: A Visual Study of Urban Farming” focuses on the history behind urban agricultural production in Milwaukee and beyond. It was co-curated by Dr. Michael Carriere, an associate professor in MSOE’s Humanities, Social Science and Communication Department and Dr. David Schalliol, assistant professor of sociology at St. Olaf College.
