More than 80 undergraduate and graduate students in engineering majors, the Rader School of Business and School of Nursing will receive their bachelor’s or master’s degrees at Milwaukee School of Engineering’s (MSOE) Fall Commencement, Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the Kern Center.

MSOE Regent Kathleen M. Ruehlow ’72 will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

Corina Rae Konitzer is the class respondent, the honor that goes to the graduate with the highest GPA. Konitzer is graduating with high honors and will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

David Ramirez will receive the Alumni Association Award. Recipients of this prestigious award are first nominated by faculty members in their respective academic departments and then the entire graduating class selects from among its peers the student who is most deserving. He is graduating with high honors and will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

About Kathy Ruehlow:

MSOE Regent Kathleen Ruehlow ’72 is a graduate of the Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing, which merged into MSOE in 1995. Ruehlow served as a nurse for more than 30 years and has said the best part of being a nurse is helping others. In addition to her professional career, Ruehlow has volunteered for the Lake Area Free Clinic in Oconomowoc, Wis., assisting those who otherwise could not afford health care.

Kathy is the widow of MSOE alumnus Gerald Ruehlow ’69. Jerry was President – Chief Technology Officer, Generac Power Systems Inc. and an MSOE Distinguished Alumnus. In July 2001, Generac established a scholarship fund at MSOE in honor of Jerry, who headed up their engineering department for many years. Jerry passed away in August 2004, yet his legacy lives on at MSOE.

Regent Ruehlow retired from nursing, but continues to care for the community through philanthropic efforts as president of the Ruehlow Family Foundation. She is a strong supporter of MSOE students through a multiple-student scholarship program established in the Ruehlow family name, and also through her generous support of the Ruehlow Nursing Complex for the MSOE School of Nursing. In 2013, she was named an MSOE Distinguished Alumna. Ruehlow has four children and five grandchildren. She participates in a number of philanthropic activities in her community of Oconomowoc, Wis., and elsewhere.
