In 2023, the MSOE School of Nursing will present its first DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. MSOE students, faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to nominate a current MSOE School of Nursing faculty member for the award by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 21.

Each year, nurses throughout the world are recognized with The DAISY Award® for their clinical skills and compassion. The awards are presented in partnership with the DAISY Foundation, and the program has expanded beyond health care facilities into schools of nursing.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty was inspired by a former Dean of Nursing who emphasized the importance of recognizing faculty for their impact and inspiration on the future practice of their students. In 2018 the American Association of Colleges of Nursing joined the DAISY Foundation in a National Call for Nurse Faculty Recognition. AACN encourages all stakeholders within nursing education, research, and practice to make honoring faculty a priority and highlight the critical work they do to elevate health and health care across the U.S. and around the world.

MSOE nursing faculty who teach full- or part-time in the classroom, clinical, laboratory or simulation setting are eligible for MSOE’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty.

Nominators are asked to describe in a narrative format how the honoree exemplifies one or more of the following criteria and explain how this has influenced their professional growth.

  • Serves as a role model and mentor for professional nursing.
  • Demonstrates excellence in preparing nurses who impact society as expert practitioners, leaders, and scholars.
