MSOE welcomes Sebastian Thachenkary as new marketing executive
Sebastian “Saj” Thachenkary has been appointed executive director of marketing and community engagement at Milwaukee School of Engineering effective Feb. 20, 2017. With the creation of this new position at MSOE, President John Walz, Ph.D. demonstrates a commitment to expanding the national recognition of the university’s strong academic programs.
“Saj brings nearly 20 years of marketing leadership to this role,” said Walz. “He will be a tremendous addition to MSOE and our leadership team.”
Thachenkary’s marketing experience spans several industries and he has experience in corporate communications, public relations, integrated brand and marketing strategy, business development and strategic partnerships. He comes to MSOE from Alverno College, where he served as director of marketing communications. Prior, he was the vice president of marketing communications for Johnson Financial Group and he was brand manager and marketing director for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Thachenkary will direct the university’s brand and marketing strategy and oversee the Marketing and Public Affairs Department, Grohmann Museum, WMSE 91.7FM, and content of the university web and digital communications.
Thachenkary lives in Shorewood, Wisconsin with his family, where he serves as president of the Shorewood Foundation board of directors. He is also a member of the board of directors of Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology.
