New dining commons coming to MSOE Campus Center
The third floor of the MSOE Campus Center is undergoing a major transformation into a new student dining and study commons. Construction work begins March 2 to transform the space into what will become the primary dining area for resident and commuter students, faculty, staff and campus visitors. When the project is complete by September, it will be another campus hub, designed to encourage collaboration among the campus community.
MSOE challenges students to maximize their potential, but that challenge requires healthy and nutritious dining options and collaborative spaces. The dining commons will be an intentionally designed space to increase and enhance the capacity of food service to support additional students, faculty and staff, and build community with new dining options and places to meet, study and socialize.

Students’ expectations for healthy eating options will be met through sustainable practices and locally sourced ingredients. The dining area will truly be seen as a campus-wide dining option, rather than a “dorm-only cafeteria.”
The MSOE Bookstore, and all campus offices on the third and fourth floors of the Campus Center will remain open during construction. The “Great Room” (center section of the third floor), which includes the Multipurpose Room, Skylight Café, vending area, and general seating areas, will be closed.
Furniture from the seating areas has been moved throughout the ground, first and second floors of the Campus Center, giving students a place to study and relax. In addition, students will find collaborative spaces in Diercks Hall, The Innovent Center (located in Rosenberg Hall), the stART Lab and study spaces in the Grohmann Museum, Alumni Partnership Center and Walter Schroeder Library.
MSOE’s food service provider has added a “Grab & Go” food station on the first floor of the Campus Center, just inside the Broadway entrance, to the right of the elevators. It will feature sandwiches and salads along with an assortment of other pre-packaged selections such as pastries, juices, coffee, soda and snacks. A meal swipe option will be available. Weekday hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. All forms of payment currently accepted at Skylight, including meal swipes, meal dollars and the Raider Plan, can be used.
Through the end of the school year, the campus community can also dine in the RWJ cafeteria or Roscoe’s, on the ground floor of Regents Hall. Beginning March 9, hours at Roscoe’s will be extended to include lunch Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be daily hot food specials and additional grill choices. Both locations accept cash, credit cards, meal swipes, meal dollars and the Raider Plan. A complete listing of hours is available online.
