Five outstanding alumni were inducted to MSOE’s Alumni Wall of Distinction on Nov. 12. 2021.

Dr. Kendall G. Breunig ’79, Dr. Kimbel A. Nap ’72, Sara RS Miller ’86, Kimberly K. Underhill ’98 and Dr. Ronald J. Jensen ’74 were honored in a special ceremony at the Alumni Center.  

Alumni are inducted to the MSOE Alumni Wall of Distinction in recognition of their professional contributions and dedicated service to their profession. In addition, their distinguished careers have contributed to, or reflect credit on, the various academic programs in the university.  

Dr. Kendall G. Breunig ’79
Dr. Kendall G. Breunig has been the owner and principal of Sunset Investors, a diversified real estate company, since 1990. Under the umbrella of Sunset Investors is Breunig Engineering Inc., EZ Self Storage LLP and Coating Place Inc., of which he is the president, managing member/majority owner, and part-owner and corporate secretary, respectively. He has put his stamp on a variety of buildings and complexes in the Milwaukee area and across Southeastern Wisconsin. Breunig graduated from MSOE with an Associate of Applied Science in Architectural and Building Construction Engineering Technology in 1978 and a bachelor’s degree in the same field in 1979. He received an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Marquette University in 1987 and was later awarded an Honorary Doctor of Engineering from MSOE in 2017. He served as a member of the MSOE Corporation before joining the Board of Regents in 2016.  

Kimbel A. Nap, Ph.D. ’72  
Dr. Kimbel A. Nap was a serial entrepreneur. He started Draco Labs in 1974 with MSOE classmate and friend, Larry Schotz. Schotz went on to start LS Research where Nap served as VP/COO. Throughout his career, Nap served as general manager of Automated Systems Inc., managing director of LEM USA, and started Innovatec with two partners. He was an adjunct professor at MSOE, UWM, Concordia and Lakeland for three decades, all while creating and operating businesses. Nap was a member of various organizations including CEO Focus Wisconsin, Executive Agenda, Frank Lloyd Wright Association, MMAC, Milwaukee Yacht Club and MSOE Corporation, to name just a few. He was awarded the MSOE Outstanding Alumnus Award, Master Key of Success Recognition, Outstanding Young Man of America Award, and named to Who’s Who in the Midwest. He graduated from MSOE with an A.A.S. in Electronic Construction Engineering Technology in 1971 and a B.S. in Industrial Management in 1972. He earned an executive MBA in 1983 from UWM and a doctorate in 2007 from Cardinal Stritch University. Nap passed away in May 2012.  

Dr. Ronald J. Jensen ’74
Ronald J. Jensen saw exponential growth in his career because he mastered the art of taking on new and difficult challenges. He began his career at Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) as a manufacturing supervisor. He was increasingly promoted over the years, serving as vice president and eventually president of OMC. After leaving OMC, Jensen spent several years as a turnaround CEO, primarily focused on creating shareholder wealth for small- to mid-sized companies. He oversaw the regeneration of three distinct companies and executed 15 acquisitions to change the structure of these. Jensen’s final professional role before retiring was as president and CEO of Paper Pak Industries (PPI). Jensen graduated from MSOE with a B.S. in Industrial Management in 1974. He received an Honorary Doctor of Engineering and Honorary B.S. in Industrial Engineering from MSOE in 2019. He has served as an MSOE Regent since 2015.  

Sara RS Miller ’86
At the installation ceremony for Dr. Hermann Viets in 1991, Sara Miller met Kenneth Anderson ’72, an engineer for a local distributor. At the time, Miller was operating Valley Controls Inc., her own PLC software company. In 1995, the two co-founded Nova Systems Inc., a company dedicated to providing systems integration services for local manufacturers. As the company grew, Miller migrated into the role of managing partner. She provided programming for special projects and designed state-of-the-art solutions for industrial control. Nova Systems was sold in February 2020 and Miller retired from the company in April 2020. Miller earned a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from UW-Madison in 1975 and an A.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) from MSOE in 1986. She is a member of Control System Integrators Association, American Society for Quality and MSOE Corporation. Miller served on the board of Door Shakespeare (2011-2019) and worked on the annual Skylight Music Theatre Gala for more than 20 years. She is currently on the boards of Eidsvollsmen Council of North America and Doodles Ranch and Sanctuary, and volunteers at the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin.    

Kimberly K. Underhill ’98  
Kimberly K. Underhill joined Kimberly-Clark in 1988 and since then has held several positions with increasing responsibilities within research and engineering, supply chain and marketing. Underhill took her first executive leadership role as the president of the North American Family Care Unit. She proceeded to serve as VP and managing director, president of consumer Europe, global president of the Kimberly-Clark Professional Business Unit, and finally group president of the North American Consumer Business Division where she was responsible for the company’s nearly $8 billion North American personal care and consumer tissue businesses. Underhill resigned from the company in April 2021. She holds board member positions at Foot Locker Inc., Network of Executive Women, Theda Care Regional Hospital and United Way. Purdue University awarded her with the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering’s Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award in 2016 and the Distinguished Engineering Alumna Award in 2018. Underhill received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1982 and her M.S. in Engineering Management from MSOE in 1998. She and her husband Robert A. Underhill III ’98 have one son.
