From designing a cookbook for Milwaukee Empty Bowls to working with the Grohmann Museum to renovate and plan for a Maker Space in the lower level of the museum, Veronica Mangio leaves her creative mark on projects across campus.  

“I love art! I have a lot of curiosity to try new forms of art,” said Mangio.

The Andover, Minnesota native was drawn to MSOE because of its small size, distance from home and proximity to Lake Michigan. Mangio landed on her user experience (UX) major because of the combination of creativity and problem-solving opportunities.

The UX program at MSOE is an interdisciplinary program that provides students with the essential skills to design digital experiences, environments, products and services for customers and end users.

“I am able to flex my creative and artistic abilities while still being able to use my technical skills. UX has brought me challenges that I’m passionate about solving!”  

Mangio serves as president of the MSOE Art & Design Club and is a student fellow in the CREATE Institute.

“As part of the CREATE Institute, I’m learning how to create value in my passions and to also share and connect those passions with others.”

The CREATE Institute works to ensure students receive well-rounded, high-impact educational experiences that will enhance their learning. It was originally led by faculty fellows, but a new cohort of student fellows was added this year.

“I’m excited to be a part of an uplifting community and looking forward to the connections and values we will make and opportunities I know I will learn from.”
