We’re tearing down the walls between learning and doing. Because at MSOE, the two are synonymous.
At a lot of other universities, you have big lecture halls and then dedicated lab time. At MSOE, the two are more integrated (and the lecture halls aren’t that big because we prefer our class sizes small).
That means you might meet in an engineering classroom that’s divided into lecture and laboratory space because your class period will be a mix of both. Or you might spend the first part of your nursing class in a room adjoining a simulation lab so that you can literally turn around and apply what you’ve just learned on the other side of the retractable wall. Or you might learn mobile programming by experimenting with the computers and devices in the Gene Carter Usability Lab. And it’s not just about the physical environment — it’s also about the collaborative project work that mirrors life at a real business.
Trust us: Our approach is way more fun than the traditional, large auditorium setting. Who wouldn't want to learn in small class sizes with hands-on, interactive laboratories?
