Read more about MSOE's M.S. in Nursing – Leadership and Management Track graduate degree.
The Leadership and Management track of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program from MSOE, with its unique blend of nursing and business concepts, will equip graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to function effectively in the health care environment. MSOE’s MSN program is based on the fact that nurses at mid-management, executive levels and nurse entrepreneurs must have the capacity to manage financial resources, manage human capital, analyze large data sets, understand complex organizational systems, and ensure quality and safety, all through the lens of nursing practice. The curriculum in the MSN program meets this need by blending the expertise of the faculty of the School of Nursing and the Rader School of Business with the student’s knowledge and experience.
The MSN PMHNP program has been developed in collaboration with Rogers Behavioral Health. It is designed for the working RN, with classes held on consistent days of the week, and in afternoon and evening hours. With the use of technology, simulation, innovation, and direct care, the program will provide the knowledge and skills for practice in a variety of settings including inpatient facilities, community clinics, independent practice and telehealth.
The Direct Entry MSN is designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in another field but are ready for a career change. After completing requirements for earning a B.S. in Nursing, students will seamlessly progress into MSN courses in either the Leadership/Management or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track.
Blended Internet delivery combines the rich faculty/student interaction that is the hallmark of an MSOE education with the flexibility of online learning. The amount of time students spend in class is reduced, while time spent on project-focused learning is enhanced. MSOE’s blended classes meet face-to-face three or four times per quarter.
Geography is not a constraint for students interested in completing the MSN at a distance. In addition to the blended Internet format mentioned above, there also is an option to take courses via 100% online distance delivery. The rich faculty/student interaction that is the hallmark of an MSOE education is replicated in online classes creating dynamic and flexible learning environments.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and the master's degree program in nursing at Milwaukee School of Engineering are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org) and have full approval of the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (http://dsps.wi.gov)
