Dr. Medhat Khalil – Director of Professional Education & Research Development, Applied Technology CenterTM, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI, USA.

Medhat has constantly been working on his academic development through the years, starting from Bachelor and Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering in Cairo, Egypt proceeding with his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and his Post-Doctoral Industrial Research Fellowship at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

He has been certified and is a member of many grand name institutions such as: Certified Hydraulic Specialist by the International Fluid Power Society IFPS; Certified Accredited Fluid Power Instructor by the International Fluid Power Society IFPS; Member of Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power Engineering Research Center (CCEFP); Listed Fluid Power Consultant by the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA); Member of the Board at the International Fluid Power Society (IFPS); President and Technical Director of CompuDraulic; Member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Having worked as Director of Professional Education and Research Development at MSOE’s Applied Technology CenterTM, Medhat has a vast working experience in the field of mechanical engineering and more specifically hydraulics. He has developed and taught fluid power system training courses for industry professionals, being familiar with the technological developments in the field of fluid power and motion control and the production program of the leading fluid power companies. In addition, he has designed several hydraulic systems based on ISO-Standard and developed several analytical and educational software programs.

Paul Michael – Research Chemist at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Fluid Power Institute. He has 35-plus years of experience formulating and testing lubricants. Paul is active in ASTM, ISO, and NFPA standards committees, serves as a lubrication subject matter expert for the US Military, and is principal investigator for energy efficient hydraulic fluids in the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power. He has published over 40 papers on energy efficient fluids, hydraulic fluid compatibility, filtration, particle characterization, and machinery lubrication.

Steven Fredette, Ph.D., P.E. – President of Fredette Consulting since 2012, has over 20 years of R&D and Product Development experience working in industry as well as 13 years of teaching experience at multiple Universities. Steve brings a balanced, systematic approach to problem solving and has efficiently delivered innovative, producible solutions to the industrial, aerospace and alternative energy fields. Fredette holds 11 U.S. patents and is a Senior Member of the IEEE. His primary interests are in the areas of electronics and electric machines.

Dr. Daniel Williams – Professor; MSOE’s Mechanical Engineering Department.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and his Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Dan has over 20 years of industry engineering experience.  He worked for two years as a design engineer at Snap-On Tools Corporation in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  Following graduate studies, Dan worked for 18 years at John Deere’s Construction & Forestry Division in Dubuque, Iowa, where he specialized in machine systems simulation—hydraulics, drive train, rigid body dynamics and controls—and control design.  Dan has also been a member of the full-time faculty at Loras College in Dubuque, where he taught courses in the Electromechanical Engineering program for five years.

Kate Kerrigan – Kate specializes in reliability and manufacturing management and has in-depth experience implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean Manufacturing. She holds certifications for Project Management Professional (PMP), Theory of Constraints (ToC), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM), and Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM). Through her teaching, coaching, and mentoring, Kate has led several industry-leading organizations in improving their bottom line and increasing their systems’ reliability. She has a diverse background with industry vertical experience in food and beverage, consumer products, pulp and paper, and automotive industries. Throughout her career, Kate has held positions as a Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, Reliability Leader, and Operations Analyst. She currently runs the operations excellence blog EngineerXX. She is a graduate of MSOE; earning bachelor’s degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management.
